Matawalle Urges New Navy Officers to Embody Integrity, Excellence

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Mohammed Matawalle has urged the two hundred and sixty four cadets commissioned as Officers of the Nigerian Navy to be prepared to give in their best in support of National Security as the Nation contends with diverse security threats.

‎Speaking at the Passing out Parade and Commissioning Ceremony of the Direct Short Service Commission Course 29 and the Special Duty Pre-commissioned Training 2024 which held at the Nigerian Naval College Ebubu in Rivers State, Dr. Matawalle said that President Bola Tinubu is committed in ensuring that the Nigerian Navy is well equipped with the requisite Manpower and Infrastructure needed to protect the Nation’s Maritime territory.

‎”Let me be clear this is just the beginning greater responsibility awaits you. You must remain disciplined, loyal and bold. Let your actions reflect the trainings and Values you have received from this college.”

‎Let me assure you that the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed in supporting the Armed Forces with the tools, resources and policies needed to secure our nation.”



‎The Minister of State for Defense noted that new Ships, UAV’s and Helicopters have been inducted to augment the manpower development efforts needed to build a Nigerian Navy that can shape security outcomes for the good of the Nation.

‎”Through our efforts in the maritime domain, especially in the Niger Delta we have seen a positive impact including an increase in crude oil production which now exceeds 1.7 million barrels per day.”

‎”The Navy is also taking bold steps in the establishment of new commands and units like a special operations command and these are signs of sound leadership and commitment to Excellence.”

‎Dr. Matawalle further applauded the effort of the Management of the Nigerian Navy for the quality of work done on the cadets that culminated in their successful graduation noting that their collaborative effort made the event a success.
