The Enforcers of Good Governance, a prominent grassroots political advocacy group with representation across all 319 electoral wards in Rivers State, has publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office. The group cited his decisive leadership and bold economic reforms as key reasons for the shift in their political allegiance.
In a significant development, the group also announced its withdrawal of support for the Labour Party and its former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, whom they backed during the 2023 elections. They attributed their change of stance to the evident socioeconomic improvements brought about by President Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the group’s Convener and National Leader, Dr. Kingsley Ogu, emphasized that their support is rooted in a desire for continuity and sustained development under a leader they believe has demonstrated the political will to make difficult decisions for the nation’s long-term benefit.
“This is not just about support for a second term, it’s about ensuring continuity in leadership that has demonstrated courage, vision, and the political will to make hard choices for long-term national gain. We’re not politicians seeking positions, we are advocates of responsible governance,” he said.
Dr. Ogu acknowledged that the group had previously campaigned for Peter Obi, but their new position reflects their recognition of President Tinubu’s achievements and leadership qualities KO.
“The Enforcers of Good Governance worked for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party Mr. Peter Obi in the 2023 Presidential election but today due to Mr. President’s bold and courageous reforms and his style of leadership we are ready to work with like minds both in Rivers State and at the national level to massively campaign and canvass for the second term of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the most sellable candidate.
We believe this is the best way to deliver dividends of democracy to Rivers people. President Asiwaju has shown a clear understanding of Nigeria’s problems, and he surely knows how to solve them. We appeal to all political gladiators in Rivers State to join us in supporting Mr. President to ensure that dividends of democracy are delivered to Rivers people.”

Highlighting key achievements, the group pointed to strategic economic and infrastructural milestones, including the repayment of IMF loans, increased crude oil production, and resolution of the Ogoni oil dispute. Dr. Ogu stressed these accomplishments are clear indicators of purposeful leadership.
“Repaying Nigeria’s longstanding IMF loans, increasing crude oil production to over 1.4 million barrels per day, and finally addressing the Ogoni oil dispute, these are not accidental achievements. They are the result of strategic leadership,” he noted.
He further praised Tinubu’s reform of the oil and gas sector through executive orders that have led to major projects such as the expanded AHL and ANOH Gas Processing Plants and the commissioning of the 23.3km OB3 metering pipeline. He also cited new drilling activities in OML 58 and the launch of a solar energy project in the Niger Delta as significant milestones.
“These projects mark a significant leap forward in Nigeria’s energy infrastructure. Let’s not forget that over the last decade, investment in the sector hit an all-time low. So why wouldn’t we support a President who’s clearly demonstrating the will and capacity to turn things around? What’s even more telling is the return to Ogoni land and the resumption of oil drilling there. If you understand the political and economic weight of that move, you’ll know just how significant it is.”
Ogu acknowledged that while Tinubu’s reforms may be tough in the short term, they are critical to building a stable and prosperous economy in the long run.
“We understand that some of these reforms may bite in the short term, but the long-term benefits will far outweigh the temporary pain. We’re seeing the signs already and that’s the message we are taking to the people at the grassroots,” he said.
On issues affecting Rivers State, the group reiterated its support for the state and addressed the federal government’s declaration of a state of emergency. While describing the move as painful, Ogu expressed confidence in the President’s intentions.
“We believe the president acted with long-term stability in mind. He’s a seasoned politician, and we trust that he’ll always act in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.”
He also lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s efforts to foster peace, especially his outreach to FCT Minister Chief Nyesom Wike, urging broader reconciliation to avoid prolonging the political crisis in the state.
“We encourage the governor to also reach out to the House of Assembly and other political stakeholders. It’s the only way to ensure the emergency doesn’t get extended. The people of Rivers State deserve peace, not prolonged conflict,” he added.
