Renowned Nigerian music executive, Don Jazzy, recently took to Instagram to share an unusual experience involving a food vendor and his artist, Rema. In a now-viral video posted on his page, Don Jazzy recounted how a vendor offered him a free plate of nkwobi, only to later request that Rema perform at her upcoming show without charge.
According to Don Jazzy, the vendor insisted on giving him the traditional delicacy, which he accepted and enjoyed. However, the gesture quickly turned awkward when she followed up with a bold favor — asking him to have Rema perform at her event for free.

In response to the incident, the Mavin Records boss issued a firm public warning: “No one should give me free gift again. I don’t want it.”
He further explained that the situation highlights why he is wary of accepting free items, questioning the logic behind trading a top-tier artist’s performance for a meal.
“Out of nowhere you give me free nkwobi that I didn’t ask for, which you insisted. I accepted and ate it. Suddenly, you want me to return the favour — you’re asking me to give you Rema?
“How does it even add up? Is the exchange rate for me? Because of nkwobi?”, he asked.
