NDDC, Navy Solidify Partnership on Maritime Security, Oil Production, Regional Development

Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says security and development are interwoven.

Dr. Ogbuku who made this known during a courtesy visit on him by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogala at NDDC Headquarters in Port Harcourt Rivers State, affirmed the willingness of the commission to partner Nigerian Navy in research, Maritime Security and infrastructural Development.

Considering the important roles Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC is playing in the development of Oil rich region and the need for a peaceful environment to facilitate development, the courtesy call by Navy hierarchy was an avenue for both Nigerian Navy and NDDC to solidify their partnership to enhance development of Niger Delta region.

Speaking while receiving the Chief of Naval Staff and other Naval hierarchy, Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku acknowledged that Nigerian Navy was very crucial in providing enabling environment for oil production and infrastructural Development in the Niger Delta region.

Dr. Ogbuku told the delegation that in addition to previous infrastructural amenities provided in different Naval formations, the commission would continue to partner the Navy in Admiralty University, to sponsor research to tackle challenges affecting the people of the region, food security as well as building of hostels among others.

According to the MD, the commission was planning to provide portable water in communities in the Niger Delta region as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Earlier in his presentation, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogala insisted that Navy was determined to ensure security of the Maritime Domain to increase oil production and enhance economic growth.

Vice Admiral Ogala who admitted that NDDC has provided infrastructure in different Naval platforms, solicited assistance to provide more facilities in Admiralty University owned by Nigerian Navy in Delta State.

The Chief of Naval Staff asked NDDC to complete some ongoing projects in Naval formations. Part of the delegation of the Chief of Naval Staff were, Flag Officers Commanding Central and Eastern Naval Commands, Commander Operation Delta Safe OPDS.
