Ibas Set to Renovate State Secretariat, Improve Workers’ Welfare

Rivers State Administrator, Rtd. Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas has stated that the state government is working towards the phased rehabilitation of the State Secretariat and other public infrastructure critical to effective service delivery.

Vice Admiral Ibas disclosed this during the closing ceremony of the four-day transformational leadership training put together by the State Government for Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Administrators, Officials and Directors at Government House, Port Harcourt, with facilitators from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, (ASCON), Civility Institute of Nigeria and Lagos Business School.

The Administrator noted that his administration is determined to make feasible improvements that will support workers welfare and create a healthier work culture that motivates, rather than frustrates.Vice Admiral Ibas stated that the training was geared towards equipping participants with the insights, tools and mindset needed to navigate the evolving demands of governance.

He assured that training and retooling will be top priority of his administration, emphasizing that arrangement is been put in place to organize another phase of training to accommodate more Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and other senior cadre of civil servants.

In her remarks, the Acting Head of Service, Rivers State Civil Service, Dr Iyingi Brown who lauded the Administrator for putting up the training, described it as first of its kind ever organised for civil servants in the state and assured that the investment will definitely yield positive fruits, reflected in their performance.
