NYSC Support Crucial for National Development, Says PHED MD

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED), Engr. Ete Pinnick, has stated that any support extended to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme is a support to nation building and development.

Pinnick stated this in his office when he received the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe on a courtesy visit on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

The PHED MD described the NYSC Scheme as “the bedrock of the nation’s unity and integration which has over the years provided young, vibrant youths with a platform for self discovery, career development and growth.”

He recounted his service year experiences, describing it as amazing, fulfilling and rewarding. Pinnick further stated that the service year helped shape him to attain the height he has reached in life.

He concluded by assuring the State Coordinator that PHED under his watch, he will support the NYSC Scheme in whatever capacity they can to ensure regular power supply at the orientation camp.

On request by Oleghe that they reverse the decision on rejecting corp members on primary assignment in the company, he stated that they will only accept those who fit into their technical and engineering needs only.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe had informed the PHED CEO that his visit was to familiarize with him, strengthen the cordial relationship between the two organizations and seek assistance to connect the brand new transformer gifted to the NYSC by the State government to national grid and request for the acceptance of corps members posted to PHED for primary assignment.
