The residents of Omo-Okuogha, Ediiny, Ogbalema, and Ogbokuma communities in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area celebrated a momentous occasion last sunday as His Royal Majesty, Ogwuor Ilode Gabriel, was inaugurated as king in a grand ceremony, thus concluding an extraordinary leadership gap that had hindered progress in the community.

The crowning ceremony, held at the Ogbokuma Town Hall, attracted distinguished guests from the surrounding areas, including notable chiefs, local elders and hundreds of enthusiastic community members who gathered to experience this significant event. In line with traditional customs, the Head of Chiefs in Ogbokuma officiated the sacred coronation rituals.

The event featured the presentation of traditional attire to HRM. O. I. Gabriel, including the ceremonial staff, royal beads, and the crown symbolizing his authority and heritage linked to the ancestors of the land. As the royal regalia was placed on the new king’s head, the audience erupted in thunderous applause and cheers, signifying the start of a new chapter for Ogbokuma.

“This crown represents not just authority, but responsibility,” the Head of Chiefs Macauley G. Orubia, declared during the ceremony. “We applaud your victory and emergence as our new leader, and we encourage you to use your position to promote ‘Love, Life, and Light’ to promote peace and sustainability in our beloved community.”
