Analyst Advocates Strict Enforcement of Law to Curb Lawlessness

Strict enforcement of law and steep punishment of offenders identified as means to curb lawlessness in the society. A public affairs analyst, Mr. Shedrach Udenwoke said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt.

Mr. Udenwoke called for effective awareness campaign to educate Nigerians on the relevance of abiding to laws governing the land. “I think we need more enlightenment campaign because when it has to do with sexuality, sexual abuse and others some Nigerians ask, this little thing? I was telling someone days ago that it is even an abuse to look at a lady to say waoh! “Your husband enjoys you”.

It means you are having an imagination of what her husband, spouse or whosoever is enjoying in her. That alone is an abuse. You don’t necessarily need to wait to touch the person. Now how did I get to know this? Just like the naira abuse campaign, the awareness is actually gathering enough attention. So we need to go down to things that somehow lies solo as regards our laws and abuse, and talk more about them”, he emphasised.

Mr. Udenwoke admonished Nigerians travelling abroad to always equip themselves of the knowledge of the rule and regulation guiding their host countries to prevent violating laws governing the nations because ignorance of law is no excuse.

“Just take your time to observe what they are doing and how they do things. You can even meet them and ask questions. “Waoh it is Sunday, it is Friday and am not hearing blarring speakers out there why, it is not this way in my country? “Just ask questions also let your conscience guide you”, he concluded. The social commentator stated that socio- economic lives would be adversely affected if lawlessness is permitted to reign in the country.
