The gas explosion that occured at Nobpet filling station, located adjacent the Air Force Base in Port Harcourt, before Eliozu, Rivers State, has left many residents heartbroken.
This is following the level of havoc the fire outbreak brought on the people. Vehicles and other property worth millions of naira were lost in the fire incident.
No life was lost in the fire outbreak which happened on Friday, May 16, 2025.

In a bid to commiserate with those who property were destroyed by the fire, the Sole Administrator of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Dr Clifford Ndu Walter, visited the site of the explosion.
Walter expressed deep sympathy for the victims of the gas explosion incident which destroyed property worth millions of naira.
He described the incident as unfortunate and assured affected residents of government effort to combat such incidents.
He also expressed gratitude that no lives were lost.
