My Spirit Has Left The Government, Says Fubara

The suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, stated that he is not eager to regain his position, he further warned that certain actions taken by some of his supporters have only aggravated his situation. Fubara advised his followers to refrain from making remarks and taking actions that contradict his personal values and principles of seeking peace amid the ongoing political turmoil in the state. He warned against behaviors that could further inflame tensions in the region, urging them to pursue a path of peace, stability, and reconciliation.

In his speech, Fubara reaffirmed his dedication to peace and reconciliation, highlighting that the current moment requires wisdom and careful consideration. He called on his supporters to adopt a less aggressive stance regarding the political climate in the state and instead to align with his strategic efforts towards lasting peace by exercising restraint.

Fubara mentioned that he now experiences peace of mind and appears healthier, underscoring the importance of drawing motivation from the life and principles of the late Pa Clark, especially his dedication to peace, unity, personal sacrifice, and statesmanship.

In response to calls for reinstatement made by some speakers at a service of songs held in honor of the late elder statesman, Edwin Clark, in Port Harcourt, Fubara clarified that he does not align with their statements, labeling them as personal views. He expressed that such remarks were unlikely to foster peace. “Not everything is by Oshogbe,” he noted, suggesting a preference for a more strategic and less confrontational method to manage the ongoing political turmoil.

Other attendees at the event included former governor of the state and Chairman of the Rivers Elders and Leaders Forum, Chief Rufus Ada George, former deputy governor Gabriel Toby, Senator Benneth Birabi, Prof Atuboyedia Obianime, Prof Steve Azaiki, Ms Ann Kio Briggs, Bishop Elkanah Hanson, Senator Andrew Uchendu, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, Prof Roseline Konya, and Senator John Azuta Mbata.
