Galatasaray Fan Offers His Kidney To Keep Osimhen

Victor Osimhen’s impact at Galatasaray transcends his on-field exploits, with the Nigerian striker winning over fans to such an extent that one, in a dramatic gesture, offered him a kidney to persuade him to stay. The 26-year-old forward, on loan from Napoli since the summer transfer window, has emerged as Galatasaray’s linchpin. His arrival in Istanbul revitalised the club’s ambitions, with the Super Eagles star spearheading their campaign for another Turkish Super Lig title.

Osimhen has netted 24 goals in the league and 33 across all competitions, securing his place as the Turkish League’s top scorer this season. With five matches left, including a crucial Turkish Cup final against Trabzonspor, he stands on the brink of potentially clinching a league and cup double in his debut season with the Turkish powerhouse.

In an extraordinary display of devotion, a young Galatasaray fan, recovering from a successful surgery, captured widespread attention after a video surfaced on X, shared by Le Marca Sports, showing him pleading, “Take my kidney for Osimhen too. You can live with one kidney.”

This emotional appeal, though symbolic, underscores the profound connection Osimhen has forged with the Galatasaray faithful in just a short time, highlighting the immense admiration he’s earned during his stint in Istanbul.

However, Osimhen’s future with Galatasaray remains uncertain, as his loan agreement lacks a clause for a permanent transfer. Interest from Premier League heavyweights such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal further clouds the picture. To secure the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year winner, Galatasaray would need to meet Napoli’s €75 million release clause, a significant financial hurdle. Additionally, Osimhen’s €12 million annual salary poses another challenge for the Turkish champions, who must overcome these obstacles if they hope to extend his stay beyond the current season.
