The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has urged the nation to join in prayer following another heartbreaking Nollywood loss. This comes after two actors died on a film set in Owerri, Imo State.
Reports indicate that filmmaker Stanley Ontop shared a video showing four actors being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Owerri, with two pronounced dead upon arrival. The tragedy allegedly occurred after the actors consumed a drink provided by the movie producer.

Though the victims were not AGN members, the guild’s president, Emeka Rollas, expressed deep concern in an Instagram post. He highlighted a disturbing trend of mass deaths in the industry, stating, “The devil still wants this pattern of repeated annual tragedies in Nollywood.”
Rollas referenced the recent memorial of late actor Junior Pope and drew parallels to last year’s Asaba incident, where four lives were lost. “If not for God’s mercy, the Owerri incident could have claimed four lives too,” he said. He called on actors and the broader Nollywood community to prepare for this year’s prayer gathering to seek divine intervention.
