A middle-aged woman whose identity is yet to be confirmed collapsed and died inside a public toilet at the Mile 3 Motor Park in Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman had paid to use the convenience but failed to come out after several minutes, raising concerns among the officials managing the facility.
“We became worried when she didn’t come out after a long time, we knocked several times but got no response, so we forced the door open and found her lifeless,” said one of the officials.
Chairman of the Mile 3 Motor Park toilet, Chigozie Amadi, confirmed the incident to our Correspondent.

“Yes, the incident is true. We do not know the woman. Efforts are ongoing to identify and reach her family. We have reported the matter to the Nkpolu Police Division, and the police are already here,” Amadi stated.
As of 5:59 p.m. when our Correspondent visited the scene, police officers and officials from the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) were seen working to evacuate the corpse to a mortuary.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, was yet to respond to enquiries at the time of filing this report.
