Nigerian Railway to Increase Capacity on Port Harcourt Aba Route

In a bid to accommodate the increasing number of passengers on the Port Harcourt-Aba railway route, more coaches will be deployed for effective and efficient service.

Managing Director of Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, who gave the assurance after inspecting the ongoing construction of the narrow gauge rail line between Port Harcourt and Aba, described the route as very lucrative and urged the Rivers State government and corporate individuals to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the route.

Dr. Opeifa, who stated that efforts are in top gear to extend the route to Enugu, said the Eastern Railway corridor is very critical to the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu to get the railway back to its rightful place in the mobility sector and the Nigerian economy.

While noting that the Corporation prioritises customers’ safety, the NRC Managing Director, who also visited the staff clinic in Port Harcourt, said the facility, which also serves the immediate community, will be given a facelift to offer efficient services to the staff and members of the immediate community.
