Clerics Call on Christians to Stand Firm in Truth, Reflect on Jesus’ Sacrifice this Palm Sunday

Christians have been called upon to always stand firm in truth as the body of Christ, even in the face of prosecution. This is a message from some clerics in Port Harcourt on the commemoration of palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the Holy week in Christiandom.

On this day, churches distribute palm fronds, reenacting the homage of Christ Royalty as He rode on a donkey and crowds followed him waving their palm fronds and shouting “Hosanna to the son of David”.

Speaking to our Correspondent, a clergy, Rev. Father Francis Onoriode, stated that the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem symbolizes humility, peace, and the fulfilment of prophecy.

An Anglican Clergy member, the Reverend Canon Gideon Genka, explained further on the significance of the day, ‘Palm Sunday serves as a reminder of Jesus’s sacrifice and salvation. It invites Christians to reflect on their relationship with God and to renew their commitment to following Jesus.

Mrs. Constance Egwuagu and Miss Mirian Nwanchukwu stressed that Christians should learn from the life of Christ by living a holy and faithful life.

This day remains a profound moment of faith and devotion for believers worldwide; therefore, Christians should reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice and teachings.
