Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club from Port Harcourt, Nigeria, has advanced to the playoffs finals of the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL), which will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, in June. The team secured its spot with a hard-fought 79-71 victory over FUS de Rabat from Morocco in their second match against each other, played on Thursday night in Rabat, Morocco.

This win showcases Rivers Hoopers’ determination and skill, solidifying their position as a strong contender in the BAL competition. As one of Nigeria’s top basketball teams, Rivers Hoopers is eager to make a lasting impression in the BAL playoffs and finals.

Al Ittihad Alexandria Basketball Club from Egypt has become the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs, achieving a perfect record with four consecutive wins. Their latest victory was a convincing 91-68 win over Stade Malien, propelling them to the next stage.

Unfortunately, Stade Malien’s loss means they have yet to secure a win, losing all four games played so far. Their upcoming match against Rivers Hoopers on Friday will be a rematch from Match Day One, providing them with an opportunity to turn their fortunes around.
