Rivers United Rejoice As Remo Fail To Win

Remo Stars came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Lobi Stars in a thrilling NPFL encounter. The match, rescheduled from its original date, saw Lobi Stars take a strong lead with two goals from Johnmark Atule and Onyekachi Okafor. However, Remo Stars showed resilience and determination, pulling one goal back through Haruna Hadi just before the hour mark. This left the Pride of Rivers with a shimmer of Confidence.

The visitors continued to push for a win, and their efforts paid off when substitute John Abah scored a crucial equalizer 20 minutes from the final whistle. The draw sees both teams earn a point, and it will be interesting to see how they progress in the league standings.

This result highlights the competitive nature of the NPFL, where teams are constantly battling for position and points. Remo Stars’ ability to come from behind and secure a draw demonstrates their strength and determination, and they will look to build on this performance in their upcoming matches.

Lobi Stars held a commanding 2-0 lead at halftime in their match against Remo Stars, thanks to goals from Johnmark Aule and Onyekachi Okafor’s penalty. However, their defensive vulnerabilities resurfaced in the second half, allowing Remo Stars to stage a comeback with goals from Haruna Hadi and Joseph Abah, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

This draw extends Lobi Stars’ winless streak to 13 matches, dating back to December 2023 is not possible given the current date so it may be December 2022 or the dates given “December 2024” might be wrong assuming current date is in 2024 or early 2025. Their inability to hold onto leads has been a recurring issue, with this being the third time in 2025 that they have dropped points from a winning position.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars’ draw has allowed them to maintain their lead at the top of the NPFL standings with 61 points from 32 matches. Rivers United trails by six points in second place. The result highlights the competitive nature of the league, with teams constantly battling for position and points.

Unless they can stage a dramatic turnaround, relegation seems almost certain. Their upcoming fixture against Kano Pillars could be crucial, but their current form offers little optimism.

In contrast, Remo Stars’ thrilling comeback against Lobi Stars has bolstered their title credentials. The team demonstrated the resilience and determination of champions, fighting back from a two-goal deficit to secure a valuable draw. With 61 points, Remo Stars remain atop the league standings, six points clear of second-placed Rivers United.

The result highlights the contrasting fortunes of the two teams, with Remo Stars showing the character of a title contender and Lobi Stars struggling to avoid the drop. Remo Stars’ ability to adapt and respond to adversity will be crucial in the title run-in, while Lobi Stars will need to rediscover their winning form to stave off relegation
