Governor Sim Alleged To Have Sponsored Protest Against President Tinubu

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is facing allegations of sponsoring a protest against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Port Harcourt.

Concerned Rivers Youths claim Fubara orchestrated the demonstration, which disrupted peace and order in the city, under the banner “Bring Back Our SIM”.

The protest allegedly aimed to discredit President Tinubu’s administration.

Over ₦150 million was allegedly funneled into the protest by Fubara’s camp, with his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, coordinating the release of funds to mobilize participants.

Eyewitnesses reported severe disruptions to vehicular movement, panic, and threats to public peace.

Photos and videos show branded shirts and flags used during the protest being carried into Fubara’s Woji residence, fueling suspicions of his involvement.

Concerned Rivers Youths condemned the protest as “an act of political provocation and sabotage,” accusing Fubara of undermining President Tinubu’s authority and destabilizing the state’s peace.

The group called on President Tinubu and Rivers State’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, to take immediate action against further acts of political subversion.

Security agencies have been urged to investigate the protest’s financing and organization to bring the culprits to book.

Fubara is already facing allegations of gross misconduct, including reckless spending, obstructing the Rivers State House of Assembly, and appointing individuals without legislative screening.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused Fubara of instigating the ongoing political unrest in Rivers State.
