An incident has happened in Abua, Rivers State, where a mother’s swift action saved her 6-year-old son from being kidnapped. However, in a bizarre twist, the police arrested the mother, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation.

According to the mother, they were working on their farm in the afternoon when a man armed with a pistol approached them. The man threatened to kill them, and the mother begged for mercy. Undeterred, the kidnapper tied the mother to a tree using a rope and abducted the child.

As the kidnapper neared the community, the mother managed to free herself and screamed for help. Two brave men came to her aid, and she explained the situation. The men quickly gave chase, using a motorcycle to pursue the kidnapper.

In a dramatic turn of events, the men caught up with the kidnapper and apprehended him. However, in the process, the kidnapper was severely beaten, leaving him barely recognizable.

When the police arrived, they surprisingly arrested the mother, citing that she had taken the law into her own hands. Despite her explanation of the events, the police refused to release her until she paid bail money.

The police’s actions sparked outrage among the community, with many condemning their decision and laying curses on them. The incident has raised questions about the police’s handling of the situation and their treatment of victims of crime.

“It’s unacceptable that the police would arrest the mother, who was clearly a victim in this situation,” said a community member. “The police should be supporting and protecting victims, not punishing them.”
