Manchester Vs Man City: The Battle of Retrogression

Once upon a time, Manchester United was the most prominent team in England in terms of its current and continuous progress. By current and constant progress, I mean they were the team of the moment, competing in all competitions, and had a stable team with the capacity to do even greater things in the future.

From 1992 to 2012, Manchester United was one of the biggest teams in England success-wise. In reality, the Manchester Derby that you hear about today was made popular by Manchester United around the World because the Club Manchester City gained prominence after the Arab money started rolling in.

The purpose of this article is not to put anyone down but to state the current reality of a once giant of England and a busybody neighbor that is looking set to tread the path of teams in decline.

You would agree with me that, except for the FA cup semi-final that Manchester City is set to participate in, their season has been way below average, considering how well they have been performing since the arrival of their Arab owners, where they looked like they were in contention of all title, both in English Competitions and European ones. Someone might be thinking in their mind, is the FA cup not a trophy?

Of course it is, but their chances this season in ranking of who would win the competition is on 5/10 compared to 8/10 in previous seasons. Still a good rating, but by their standards, it is very poor. Manchester United of Sir Alex was as good as the Manchester City of the last four seasons, if not better, but see where they are today.

There is this saying that “whatever goes up must come down,” and for some seasons, we have witnessed and are witnessing the continuous perpetual decline of Manchester United and, currently, the eminent decline of Manchester City. Could this be it for the Manchester teams? Who once were a menace to a handful of teams they were facing, at home or away.

As a human supporting either team, especially the Devils amongst them, it would be wise to lower your expectations to the tiniest minimum to save yourself from a world of calamitous health uncertainty.
I believe that you must have heard of instances where people died after watching their favorite team disappoint them.

This is a call for you(if you support either team, especially United, or if you’re involved in gambling) to accept that your team might never return to the possibilities of its former era, subsequently bringing you consistent joy.

Both teams are set to clash on Sunday the 6th of March by 4:30 pm at the Theater of Dreams, where a win for the home team would see them remain on 13th position as they are 3points behind FA cup Semi-finalist Crystal Palace, who have a game in hand with a superior goal difference to make them comfortable for at least a week.

A loss, on the other hand, would see them descend to 14th or, worse, 15th place if Tottenham and Everton manage to win their games this weekend, so losing shouldn’t be on their card. As for Manchester city who will be without star striker Erling Haaland, a win will see them go 2point ahead of London side Chelsea, who current are point ahead in 4th position, while loss would mean they remain on 5th position or go a step lower if Newcastle United who are a point behind with a game in hand should win their game.

While we wait to see what happens in the Manchester Derby, which is the last match of the weekend, 15th place Everton takes on 2nd Place Arsenal at home in the early kickoff at 12:30 pm on the 5th of April.

By 3 pm, 12th-place Crystal Palace would face 8th-place Brighton, and 18th-place Ipswich would battle it out with 17th-place Wolves, while 16th-place West-Ham would take on 10th place Bournemouth and 3rd place Nottingham Forest will be away at Aston Villa who are currently in 7th position with 48points.

On Sunday, April 6th, at 2 pm, 11th place Brentford faces 4th place Chelsea FC, Fulham, who are 9th on the table, would take on table topers Liverpool and 14th place Tottenham takes on bottom team Southampton.
