President Federation Cup: Rivers United To Face Beyond Limits Football Academy

Based on the release of the fixtures for the President Cup, the Port-Harcourt-based team is on the road today to face Beyond Limit in round 32 of the competition.

Since winning the Nigerian Professional Football League title in the 2021/2022 season after the merger with former Rivers team Sharks Football Club, the team is yet to bring home any trophies despite the funds that has been channeled towards the development of the team compared to that of other teams that have been winning trophies with little or no significant investments.

With former Super Eagles player and coach, Finidi George, on the helms of affair things are beginning to looking bright for the Rivers team due to the fact that the team is currently 2nd on the NPFL table with 52points and 8points behind league leaders Remo Stars, haven played 31 games so far, with 14 wins, 10 draws, 7 losses, scoring 29 and conceding 21.

The team will be taking on Beyond Limits Football Academy of Ogun State, also known as Remo Stars, who are currently leading the title charge in the NPFL with 60 points. The game might be a non-league game but due to bragging rights at stake the encounter would be fiercer than it looks on paper considering the fact that a loss to River United would mean that the hopes of lifting a trophy would go down the drain, while Remo Fc would move on to the next round and stand a chance of proceeding to win trophies this season because as it stands they are clear favorite to go on and clinch the NPFL title for the 2024-2025 season.

The match is taking place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ogun State by 2 pm Nigerian time where all eyes would be on Coach Finidi George to see if his team can come out victorious against the league’s most inform team.
