Officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army have been commended for their resilience, courage, and professionalism in discharging their duties to the nation with unwavering resolve.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, gave the commendation at an Eid-el-Fitr Luncheon with frontline troops of 6 Division Nigerian Army held at 29 Battalion Parade Ground, Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State.
Lieutenant General Oluyede, who was represented by the Commander, Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General Kevin Aligbe, stated that the virtues of selflessness, discipline, unity, and renewed commitment to the values of peace and generosity that Islam teaches resonate deeply with the core values of the Nigerian Army.
The Chief of Army Staff reiterated his commitment to strengthening the operational capacity, welfare, and combat readiness of the troops while urging Muslim faithful to use the end of the holy month of Ramadan to pray for Nigeria’s continued progress, unity, and prosperity.
Troops’ Sacrifices Recognized
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric-Emekah, explained that the event was organized to appreciate the sacrifices of the troops, which aligns with the COAS Command Philosophy, anchored on welfare as one of its main pillars.
Rivers State Government Commends Nigerian Army
In his goodwill message, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Retired), represented by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, noted that the Nigerian Army has continued to evolve in warfare dynamics, operational preparedness, and the fight against oil theft in the Niger Delta Region.
Vice Admiral Ibas commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing visionary leadership and resources to transform the security landscape of Rivers State and the Niger Delta Region.
