Operating Without a Budget: Fubara May Never Return

By Deborah Ogbonda

A concerned residents of Rivers State is of the opinion that Governor Siminalaye Fubara may never return to office due to the way the Sole Administrator of the State is running things as opposed to what he was brought in to achieve, which is help stabilize the running of the state by restoring peace but so far there hasn’t been a rumour of a peace talk being set up for both political divide to seat and discuss the way forward.

According to one supporter, the Vice Admiral is recreating the state in his own image. So far instead of set up peace talks he has sacked a lot of workers notable the council of traditional rulers which consist of individuals from different ethnic groups, not as if the council is made up of just ijaws which would have been a good reason seeing that they might oppose what ever peace transition he brings. It leaves one wondering what the Retired Admiral is trying to achieve because he is tilting away from what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu told Nigerians that he was coming to do.

In his words, “Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas, Rivers State Sole Administrator that was sent to install peace in Rivers State is yet to set up a peace and reconciliation panel. All we can see is a man taking up Executive functions.

“This man is operating in Rivers State without a budget. As it stands, no one knows what is happening in the State.

“Some of us may not understand what is happening, but what is happening in Rivers State is modern day FG robbery of Rivers people.

The economy of Rivers State is going to be badly affected as no investor would want to come here for any business whatsoever.

“I know there is politics and factional loyalty, but believe me, if you are in support of what is happening, you don’t love Rivers State enough.”

After which he went ahead to address the current position of the former speaker of the House, Hon. Martin Amaewhule.

“Suddenly, Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule is comfortable seeing his own State function without an appropriation Bill (Budget).

“Posterity will hold those masterminding the failure of Rivers State accountable.”
