Rivers State Under Emergency Rule: FG Acts to Protect Oil Installations and National Assets

The Federal Government has hinged the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State on the intentional unprovoked attack of Oil installations following the political crises in the state. 

Speaking during an Interaction, the Attorney General of the Nation, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi said President Bola Tinubu acting proactively to avert further destruction of critical National Assets following the inactivity of the Rivers State Government to protect the major revenue generator of the Nation.

The Attorney General of the Federation speaking on the suspension of Governor Fubara and his deputy, said President Tinubu’s action also saved the Governor from an impending impeachment and also stated that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike had no role in the declaration of the State of Emergency. 

Mr. Fagbemi urged those who disapprove of the action of President Tinubu, should lobby members of the National Assembly as the state of emergency declaration has been gazetted and sent to the Assembly for Approval.
