A socio-cultural organization in Rivers State(NGO), the United Brothers’ of Opobo Kingdom(UBOK), has tasked President Bola Tinubu and the authorities of the All Progressives Congress(APC), among other stakeholders to without delay, unite members of the Red Chambers of the National Assembly over the sexual harassment allegations leveled against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio by the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti- Uduaghan.

This is contained in a statement by the group in Port Harcourt shortly after their National Executive Council(NEC) meeting.

The group in the statement which was signed by its Chairman, Godswill Jaja, Secretary, Daniel Finebone and Public Relations Officer, Joseph Pepple respectively, urged Mr President and other stakeholders to ensure credible leadership in the Senate, especially on how to handle such demeaning accusation against Akpabio as Senate President, instead of trying to swept it under the carpet.

The group, in the statement, maintained that Nigerians should not be distorted by the unnecessary conservative over the President Bola Tinubu-led administration in the country.

It stated that there is a need for the President to delve into the alleged sexual harassment of female lawmakers against the number 3 man in Nigeria, by deeply looking into the matter for possible resolution, rather than suspending the complainant and allowing the accused to move freely in the country.

The group admonished President Tinubu to stand from his slumber and intervene in the matter, so as not to escalate more further problems.

UBOK also enjoined the Presidency to withdraw its suspension order against an elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“If Senator Natasha Akpoti- Uduaghan is to be suspended, then both of them are to embark on such suspension, while all relevant units and departments in the Senate saddled with the responsibility of fine-tuning the remote causes of the allegations before actions could be effectively considered.

“The Senate is currently divided because of the ongoing sexual harassment saga, involving Senators Natasha Akpoti- Uduaghan and her principal, Godswill Akpabio. Let Tinubu rise up from his slumber and unite the Senators for peace and sustainable development under his leadership to thrive.

“We as a body are calling on the leadership of the Senate to urgently withdraw the six months suspension order against Senator Natasha Akpoti- Uduaghan for posterity”, the group cautioned.
