Nscdc Rivers State Command Marks International Day With Free Medical Outreach

Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers State Command, JOACHIN Okafor says the command is confronting illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and critical National Assets theft in the State.
Mr. Joachin, who made this known during a free medical organized by the Command in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, explained that the outreach was put up to attend to the health needs of staff, the Community, and suspects in commemoration of International Civil Defence Day Twenty Twenty five.

International Civil Defence Day dates back to 1990, when the International Civil Defence Organization declared a global day to bring to light the importance of Civil protection, disaster and emergency preparedness and management world over.

Speaking at the event in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Joachin Okafor stressed the need to cater for the health concerns of the host community, Staff, and suspects.
While calling on the State Government to build a 50-bed space hospital for the corps in the state, the Commandant said that the command has achieved significant milestones in the fight against oil theft in collaboration with sister security agencies.

On her part, the Head of medical and Health, NSCDC Rivers State Command, Dr. IYekolo Gbemisola gave assurance that enough provision has been made with qualified medical personnel to attend to the health issues affecting the people.

Two of the Beneficiaries, Mrs. Mercy Eniomoren, and Comfort Johnson expressed Joy over the gesture by the corps.

The Beneficiaries requested that such outings be made regular.
The theme of the celebration this year is “Civil Defence, Guarantee of Security for the Population”.
