The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Rivers State has frowned upon the failure of some corporate organizations to hoist the national flag at their premises, as stipulated by law.
Speaking with our correspondent in Port Harcourt, the State Director of NOA, Dr. Edward Banigo, emphasized that the national flag is one of the country’s key symbols that must be honored. He also condemned the display of torn national flags, stating that such acts undermine national pride and identity.
Dr. Banigo noted that the NOA will continue to sensitize the public on the importance of the national flag. He further revealed that the agency is collaborating with security agencies to ensure compliance with the proper use of the national flag.
Highlighting the legal specifications of the flag, Dr. Banigo lamented that some flags hoisted at various premises do not meet the required dimensions. He also clarified that the embossment of any unauthorized symbols on the national flag is prohibited by law.
While stressing the importance of flying the correct national flag, Dr. Banigo stated that NOA is responsible for producing the official national flag and advised organizations to obtain the right specifications directly from the agency.
