Minister of Regional Development, Chief Abubakar Momoh, says President Bola Tinubu wants the best for the Niger Delta region. Chief Momoh made this known during the inauguration of the 7.3-kilometer Oyigbo Internal Road and the flag-off of the rehabilitation of the Mgboji-Umuagbai-Akwete Road in Oyigbo, Rivers State, executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). He acknowledged that the present management of NDDC has made significant progress within a short time.
The atmosphere at the event was charged with a carnival-like spectacle, as different dancing troupes from Oyigbo, Ndoki, and Asa communities took turns to entertain guests. Residents and road users expressed joy, describing the road as an answer to years of suffering. The road, which connects Rivers, Abia, and Akwa Ibom States, is expected to boost economic and social activities in the locality, which hosts the Afam Power Plant, Transmission Company of Nigeria, and several oil locations.
Performing the inauguration and flag-off, Chief Abubakar Momoh urged stakeholders to support the NDDC management, asserting that the series of inaugurations embarked upon by the commission were clear testimonies of the functionality of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President. The Minister further stated that with the approval of the 2024 NDDC budget, more projects would be carried out in the region.
