MDCN Inducts Doctors From Rivers State University

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria has officially welcomed 48 newly trained medical doctors from Rivers State University, marking a significant milestone for the institution. These talented individuals have successfully completed their medical studies at the university’s College of Medical Sciences, as proudly announced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nlerum Okogbule.

During the induction ceremony, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, represented by Commissioner for Education Dr. Ovy Chukwuma, urged the new doctors to uphold the highest standards of their profession. He emphasized the importance of innovation, problem-solving, and leadership in addressing the unique healthcare challenges faced by their communities.

Governor Fubara also made a commitment to revive abandoned health projects across the state, ensuring that the healthcare needs of the people are met. He encouraged the new doctors to use their knowledge and skills to promote health equity, uplift others, and contribute to the development of the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr. Fatima Kyari, congratulated the newly inducted doctors, marking the beginning of their journey in the medical profession. She emphasized that being a medical doctor is not just a career, but a calling that requires dedication, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Dr. Kyari praised the Rivers State University College of Medical Sciences for its remarkable growth and the respect it has earned globally. She noted that this achievement comes with privileges, as the university’s faculty and council are recognized worldwide.

The Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University also commended the doctors, stating that they have demonstrated exceptional commitment, focus, and resilience throughout their rigorous medical training. He highlighted that the university successfully completed the medical program within the prescribed six-year period, meeting all the timelines and deadlines set by the MDCN.
