By Tina Amanda

A man in his early 30s, identified as Michael, is now in the custody of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his friend, Uchenna, to death after accusing him of stealing his mobile phone.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Egede Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to a source privy to the incident, Uchenna had visited Michael at his residence as they were friends. After some time, Michael reportedly noticed his mobile phone was missing and accused Uchenna of stealing it.

Uchenna denied the accusation, leading to an argument between the two. During the confrontation, Michael allegedly picked up a jackknife and stabbed Uchenna in the stomach.

Uchenna was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. Michael was later arrested by the police.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident.
