Kunle Ogunrombi, known as K-Peace, who won the Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 5 in 2015, has accused the show’s organizers of failing to deliver the promised prizes.
In a recent interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast with Nedu Wazobia, K-Peace claimed that despite being declared the winner and publicly awarded ₦7.5 million, a brand-new car, and a two-week trip to Dubai, he received none of these rewards.
He recounted enduring financial hardships post-victory, often attending interviews without having eaten, and expressed frustration over the organizers’ repeated delays and excuses regarding his prizes.

K-Peace emphasized the discrepancy between the public announcements and his actual experience, stating, “What you announced on national television is that I won ₦7.5 million with a car. And I am supposed to have a two-week trip to Dubai. I was going through hell.”
It’s noteworthy that Nigerian Idol went on a six-year hiatus after K-Peace’s season and was revived in 2021 under new sponsorship. Since its return, winners have reportedly received their promised prizes, suggesting that the issues K-Peace faced may have been specific to the previous organizers.
As of now, there has been no official response from the organizers of the 2015 Nigerian Idol regarding K-Peace’s allegations.
