Navy Officer Shot by Armed Robbers in Rivers State

A tragic incident occurred in Elejor, Onne, Rivers State when a navy officer was shot by armed robbers while driving home from work. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting concerns about safety, security, and the responsiveness of medical facilities in emergency situations.

According to eyewitnesses, the officer, whose name has not been disclosed, was driving near his residence in the evening when he spotted a group of armed robbers attempting to break into a nearby compound. His car’s headlights were shining directly on the robbers, illuminating their nefarious activities.

The robbers allegedly ordered the officer to switch off his headlights, but he refused, possibly due to his military training. Although the robbers were not targeting him specifically, they shot him multiple times in the left arm through his car window.

After being shot, the officer was rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. However, in a shocking and disturbing turn of events, none of the hospitals agreed to admit or treat him. The reasons behind this decision are still unclear.

The officer’s family and friends were left frantic and helpless as they watched him struggle to stay alive. Despite their best efforts to get him the medical attention he so desperately needed, the officer succumbed to his injuries and passed away after several hours.

The Rivers State Police Command has been contacted for comment, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The police have promised to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice for the slain officer and his family.

The incident has also sparked outrage and condemnation from the community, with many calling for increased security measures and a more effective response to emergency situations.

The Nigerian Navy has also released a statement condemning the incident and promising to support the officer’s family during this difficult time. The Navy has also called for increased security measures to protect military personnel and their families.
