Woman Accuses Rivers Police of Assault, Command Pledges Thorough Investigation

A woman in Port Harcourt has come forward with serious allegations against officers of the Rivers State Police Command, claiming she was assaulted during an encounter on Evo Road.

Sharing her ordeal on social media, she described how four policemen allegedly used excessive force against her without provocation. According to her account, what began as a routine interaction escalated into a violent confrontation, leaving her deeply distressed.

The incident has sparked outrage online, with many condemning the alleged actions of the officers involved and calling for accountability. In response to the growing public concern, the Rivers State Police Command released an official statement addressing the allegations.

The Command acknowledged the report and urged the woman to visit the Police Headquarters to provide a formal complaint. This, they explained, would enable a thorough investigation to identify the officers involved and ensure appropriate disciplinary measures are taken.

The police reassured the public that they remain committed to upholding professionalism and addressing misconduct within their ranks.

In their statement, the Command also appealed to the public to cooperate with police officers during stop-and-search operations, emphasizing the importance of such measures in combating crime and ensuring public safety.

They highlighted the need for mutual trust and cooperation between the public and law enforcement to maintain peace and security in the state.

The Rivers State Police Command reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability, promising to handle the matter with the seriousness it deserves. They called on citizens to report incidents of misconduct, stressing that such feedback is vital in improving the conduct of officers and ensuring justice for all.
