Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers State has extolled Senator John Azuta Mbata as a “rare pride” of the state, commending his humility and modesty despite his remarkable accomplishments in wealth, leadership, and social standing.

The governor delivered this praise during a celebratory gathering at Senator Mbata’s residence in Port Harcourt to mark his 65th birthday on Friday, January 3, 2025.

In his goodwill message, Governor Fubara expressed his honor in associating with the senator, whom he referred to as one of the “actual face[s] of Rivers State.” He began by acknowledging the significance of birthdays, saying, “Today is very special because the day of everyone’s birth is very significant in their lives. For those of us who read too many cosmic books, I mean today is a very special day.”

The governor further commended the positive influence Senator Mbata has on those who encounter him. “No wonder whoever crosses your path always have positive things to say. I sincerely wish you good health, and more blessings.

“You know (biblical) David was blessed so much that even in his old age he was still receiving a lot of honors. So I want God’s blessings that add no sorrow to continue to be your portion, you and your family. As we join to mark this day with you, I want you to know that we appreciate your support for us.”

Governor Fubara also highlighted Senator Mbata’s integrity, stating, “It takes a man who has integrity… the real one to stand on the path of truth and you have shown it in this State, and we appreciate you.”

He assured the celebrant of continued collaboration to advance the state’s development, saying, “I will continue to work with you and secure your support to ensure that together, we will take the State to the promised land.”

Addressing the senator’s children, Governor Fubara encouraged them to follow their father’s example. “That is my message to you. But I know you are not going to disappoint your dad, because he has shown you the right way, through humility and care. So make him proud,” he concluded.
