By Mark Lenu

As Christians across the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ December 25, the Vicar in charge of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Port Harcourt, Revd. Onimim Frank has urged everyone especially residents of Rivers State to imbibe the virtues of forgiveness and love toward one another.

In his Christmas message, the Vicar also urged those opposing Governor Siminalayi Fubara to stop forthwith as he commended the Fubara led state government for doing well.

He said: “In all, we thank God for life and we also thank God for the birth of Christ which has given hope to the entire world. It is a blessing to everyone.

“Yuletide brought great joy by bringing people from spiritual darkness into light and. I urge everyone to celebrate it in a Christian way by adding forgiveness to it.

“Christ came to show us forgiveness and this is most needed in Rivers State because of the political situation in the state. Let us celebrate it with love and forgiveness toward one another.

“This is the period to share your love. If you have one cup of rice, still share it with someone and God will bless you. There is no one that has given that has lacked.

“We also pray for the current government led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. It is really God at work to have given the state an enduring governor who has compassion for the poor an the needy.

“Salary is being paid in due time. There is also a market established in the state where prices of commodities have been reduced. So, the Fubara led government has tried.

“I want to also tell those opposing the Fubara administration that the time for fighting should end and let us support the current administration so that everybody will enjoy the dividends of democracy. We want Rivers State to return to its tourist state which it used to be known for.”
