The Rivers State Government has commenced the distribution of presidential palliatives to support communities affected by recent flooding. The relief materials, which aim to ease the burden of those impacted, will be shared across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas, including to non-indigenes residing within the state.
Overseeing the distribution process is the State Flood Prevention and Management Committee, chaired by Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Nma-Odu. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at the storage facility, Nma-Odu confirmed that some stakeholders had already collected their share of the palliatives. She emphasized that the initiative complements previous support provided by the state government to flood-affected communities.
“The distribution is a continuation of our commitment to alleviating the hardships caused by flooding. This package serves not only as relief but also as a Christmas palliative for residents and non-indigenes,” Nma-Odu stated.
