The 3-year single term of Barr Adata Bio-Briggs led FIDA in Rivers State will end this month, paving the way for a new executive to emerge by next week. Bio-Briggs was the immediate past spokesperson of FIDA in the state before being elected chairperson in 2021
FIDA Nigeria, Rivers State branch was formally inaugurated as a branch of FIDA Nigeria on 16th May 1987 at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, by Mrs Udom Azuogu, the then FIDA Nigeria Deputy Country Vice President.
FIDA means the International Federation of Women Lawyers. It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that was founded in Mexico City in 1944. Ambassador Aduke Alakija established FIDA Nigeria in 1964. FIDA Nigeria’s main goal is to protect and promote the rights of women and children in Nigeria.

FIDA provides free legal representation to indigent women and children. -

FIDA publishes information resources to keep members informed about their work and results. -
Conventions
FIDA holds conventions where members study law, write papers, and debate to reach consensus conclusions. -
Networking
FIDA networks with other non-governmental organizations and cooperates with governmental organizations. -
International relations
FIDA establishes friendly international relations based on equality and mutual respect. -
Comparative law
FIDA promotes the study of comparative law.
