The Rivers State Police Command has neutralized Ikem ThankGod, also known as “General 2 Man,” a notorious leader of the Greenland cult group, known for perpetrating kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas.

Speaking during a press briefing, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Bala, described the late cult leader as a menace to communities, particularly Obologbolo and the Akinima Division, where he had been wreaking havoc.

CP Bala stated that “General 2 Man” was implicated in numerous violent crimes, including Murder:

“Killing of the Youth President in Okogbe Community, Mr. Christmas Ede, on December 21, 2021.Multiple killings in 2024, including two PMF 48 personnel, three civilians (Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kiriki and Mrs. Abigail Victor), and a spare parts dealer after collecting ransom.

“Frequent vandalization of oil pipelines and government installations in Ahoada West.”

The infamous cult leader met his end on Thursday, December 5, 2024, while attempting to carry out another operation. During the encounter, police operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and 20 rounds of live ammunition from the scene.

• Two (2) AK-47 rifles

• Five (5) magazines

• Twenty-two (22) rounds of live ammunition.

CP Bala disclosed that other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds and appealed to the public to report anyone with suspicious injuries to the nearest police station.

The Commissioner assured Rivers residents of the command’s commitment to peace and safety.

He announced new measures, including: Confidence-building patrols throughout December, targeting criminal hideouts. Enhanced security along the Omagwa-Isiokpo-Elele road with additional personnel deployment.

“We appeal to the people of Rivers State to collaborate with the command. Together, we can maintain peace and ensure the safety of lives and property.”

The Rivers State Police Command reiterated its call for public cooperation and synergy to strengthen efforts against crime across the state.
