Police Arrest Wheelbarrow Pusher Over Death of Female Lover in Rivers State

A man identified as Peter, a wheelbarrow pusher from Benue State, has been arrested by detectives from Nkpolu Police Division, Mile 3 Diobu, Rivers State, in connection with the death of his female lover, known as Mummy, who was of Ogoni origin.

The deceased, a trader dealing in okro at Bishop Okoye Line in Mile 3 Market, reportedly visited Peter’s residence, located behind a filling station on Ikwerre Road, opposite Bishop Okoye Street, on the night of Thursday, November 28, 2024, to spend the night.

Sources revealed that Peter raised an alarm early the following morning, Friday, November 29, 2024, which drew the attention of his neighbors. Upon investigation, they discovered that the woman had passed away.

The neighbors immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the scene, conducted a preliminary assessment, and arrested Peter. The body of the deceased was also taken away by law enforcement officers.

As of press time, the exact cause of Mummy’s death remains unknown.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident, stating, “The suspect has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.”
