The youths of Ahoada in Rivers State have called for more security presence in the area as they commended the past Commissioner of Police in the state, Tunji Disu for his tiredless effort in combating crime and criminality in the area.

While apraising the efforts of security agents in the area, the PRO, Ahoada Igbu Youth Congress, Comr. Ekeakita Hector Chinem told our correspondent that the military in Ahoada is not as proactive as before on crime fighting.

“The Nigeria police have done well so far in ensuring security in Ahoada East and West, especially with the efforts of the former Commissioner of Police Rivers State, Olatunji Disu

“But we still need more security presence in Igbu Akoh Kingdom, Igbu Ehuda (Ahoada main town), Igbu Úpātá Kingdom, Igbu Ubie Kingdom, and Igbu Igbuduya Kingdom among others.

“If security can be beefed up in the areas I just mentioned, we believe crime and criminality will be dealt with to the bare minimum in the entire Ahoada region.

“We notice between 2015 and 2020, the Nigerian Army was more proactive than the police but the reverse is the case today despite the heavy presence of the military in Ekpeye and Ahoada.

“The military in Ahoada these days are no longer going after hoodlums. Some soldiers tend to be more relaxed while others are only interested in chasing illegal bunkering.

“I therefore plead with the Nigerian military to go out there and fish out those criminals that are still bearing arms, kidnapping and killing motorbike men in Ahoada.

“I also want to call on the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara not to relent in his ongoing effort to rid the area of crimes, I still urge him to put in more effort.

“I am pleading with the governor to give a marching order to the two local government chairmen in Ahoada to encourage local security outfits that would help the conventional security agencies with useful intelligence,” he said.
