By Mark Lenu

A northerner residing in Rivers State has narrated how hoodlums came from Emohua LGA to snatch the motorbike of his brother in Degema LGA, and abandoned his brother in his pool of blood after stabbing his neck.

The narrator who gave his name as Muhammad said a hoodlum pretending to be a genuine passenger boarded the bike of his brother in the evening hours from Degema to Abonnema.

The passenger had already planned with his gang to lay wait along the road. As the passenger asked the bike rider to drop him off, his gang members emerged from the side of a bush and started stabbing the biker, leaving him with a severe wound on his neck before zooming off with the biker.

Muhammad said his brother was able to survive the attacks because he was immediately rushed to a medical facility where he is receiving treatment at the moment.

“We reported the incident to the police and the Degema community security team who traced the bike and recovered it in a community in Emohua LGA.

Efforts are on the way to apprehend the hoodlums. The vigilantes in Emohua who aided us to recover the bike had promised to apprehend the hoodlums and hand them over to security agents,” he said.

You recall that same Degema LGA, a motorbike rider was reportedly killed along Okpor junction by hoodlums who boarded his bike from Buguma.

The biker was said to have been stabbed to death while robbing him of his bike. A situation that sparked outrage among the northern residents in the area who vowed to avenge the killing of their brother.

Traces had it that the hoodlums were coming from the neighboring Emohua LGA with the aid of their partners in crime within the Kalabari axis to rob unsuspecting bikers, especially at night in Degema LGA.
