Neighbour Stabs 65-Year-Old Man Over Witchcraft Accusation in Port Harcourt

By Tina Amanda

A man identified as Nnana, in his early 30s, has allegedly stabbed his 65-year-old neighbor, Monday Reuben, at 37 Okwelle Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt. The attack occurred after Nnana reportedly accused Reuben of witchcraft.

Sources say Nnana fled the scene after allegedly committing the crime.

In an interview, Reuben, who serves as the caretaker of the property, recounted the events: “I called him to ask if he could move aside while sand was being moved. He responded by accusing me of being a witch and threatening to kill me.”

According to Reuben, Nnana initially attacked him with a broken bottle, stabbing him in the neck. Early the next morning, Nnana reportedly entered Reuben’s house and stabbed him again, this time on the head.

Reuben, originally from Akwa Ibom and now seeking justice, has reported the incident to the Azikiwe Police Division.

Our correspondent, who spoke with the injured man, observed deep cuts on both his neck and head. Reuben was later taken to a hospital after receiving a medical report form from the police.

Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, is yet to respond to inquiries about the incident.
