Comfort Etim, the mother of 12-year-old Bright, has shared details about her daughter’s narrow escape from a suspected child trafficker.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 4, 2024, around Evergreen Junction, GRA Phase 3, Port Harcourt.

In an interview with journalists on Tuesday, Etim explained how she was alerted while at Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

“I received a call saying that my child had been taken by a woman who put her in a car and was about to drive away.

“Thankfully, a man intercepted the vehicle, rescuing my child and confronting the woman. I rushed back home from Mile 3 and found the suspect with my daughter. We immediately took both of them to the Abacha Police Division.”

Etim further revealed that her daughter recounted how the woman asked her if she had ever slept with a man before the abduction attempt. Neither Etim nor her daughter knew the woman or her origins.

The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident, adding that the child is currently receiving medical care.

As of press time, the suspect remains in custody at the Abacha Police Division on Abacha Road, GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt, as investigations continue.
