Gov. Fubara Sets Port Harcourt Tourist Beach on Path to Revival

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has kickstarted efforts to rejuvenate the long-neglected Port Harcourt Tourist Beach, aiming to restore it as a central hub for arts, culture, and tourism in the state. Speaking during an inspection of the site on Tuesday, Governor Fubara outlined initial steps, including the sandfilling of swampy areas and bringing in a committed investor to manage and transform the site effectively.

The Governor, joined by Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Hon. Israel Ngbuelo, Ministry Permanent Secretary Ishmael Tomonialadieokuma, and Ministry of Lands Permanent Secretary Alozie Nwala, emphasized the significance of reviving the Tourist Beach. “Revitalizing the Port Harcourt Tourist Beach aligns with our broader goal of restoring Rivers State to its former vibrancy,” Fubara stated. “With newly acquired land, we’re set to expand the space, and with an investor who has both the capability and vision, this area will evolve into a modern tourist attraction.”

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Governor Fubara called on local youth to cooperate with contractors and support the investor’s efforts, encouraging them not to obstruct the redevelopment process. He assured residents that his administration is committed to elevating the state as a premier destination for tourists seeking serene and peaceful getaways.

This renewal project is a key component of Fubara’s vision for a culturally and economically thriving Rivers State, one that attracts both domestic and international visitors while enhancing local quality of life.
