Popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels recently shared the story of how she met her husband, Delta North Senator Ned Nwoko, revealing that the introduction happened during an outing with her then-boyfriend.

Despite initial opposition from her family, Daniels ultimately married Nwoko in 2019.

In an Instagram live session, Daniels recounted how she had accompanied her boyfriend on a day trip, reluctantly. She explained, “I went to visit my boyfriend and I was so angry about why we had to go sightseeing, but when we got there I met a cute man.”

Reflecting on the twist of fate that led her to Nwoko, she added, “The moral of the story is that your boyfriend should not stop you from seeing your husband.”

Daniels also discussed her shift in perspective once she started her relationship with Nwoko. She humorously mentioned, “When I started with my husband, I forgot I was to have boyfriends; of course, I had like 20. When people think I don’t have a choice, I’m like what?”

She clarified misconceptions surrounding her mother’s stance on the marriage, saying, “People were saying mummy forced me not knowing that she was against the marriage; my full family said no.”

Nwoko and Daniels tied the knot in May 2019 in Aniocha Local Government Area, Delta State, with the age gap between them sparking widespread discussion at the time.

Explaining his decision to marry Daniels, Nwoko, now 63, noted that her local roots played a significant role in his choice. “For her particularly, I married her because she is from my place. I wanted to marry a wife from my place, and I was looking for the right person. By the time I met her, I knew she must be the one,” he shared.
