A petition submitted to the Senate by Onyebuchi Obioha, a concerned parent, has sparked an investigation into the alleged misconduct of a Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) supervisor and the withholding of his daughter’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result
Obioha’s petition, submitted through Senator Neda Imasuen, alleges that a JAMB supervisor gave his 16-year-old daughter, Chizitere Obioha, his phone number after the exam, suggesting inappropriate intentions. Obioha suspects the supervisor may be responsible for the “examination infraction” listed as the reason for withholding Chizitere’s result.
Chizitere wrote her UTME at Wisdom House CBT Center in Ogba, Lagos, on April 22, 2024. Her father dropped her off at the center and waited nearby until she finished the exam. Afterward, Chizitere told her father that the exam went well.

However, when the UTME results were released, Chizitere’s result was withheld due to an alleged examination infraction. Obioha challenged JAMB’s claim of malpractice, stating that his daughter was not involved in any wrongdoing.
Obioha requested evidence from JAMB, including:
- Forensic audit of any alleged malpractice form
- CCTV footage from the examination center
On June 25, 2024, Obioha visited the JAMB office in Ikoyi, where officials stated that the alleged examination infraction could mean:
- Caught with materials in the hall
- Caught cheating with another candidate
- Caught with a device
On July 11, 2024, Chizitere attended an interactive session with JAMB officials, where they asked questions and stated that they had footage of her being caught with a device during the exam. Chizitere denied this, stating she did not own any electronic devices and did not take any with her to the exam.
Obioha raised suspicions that his daughter was being punished for a crime she did not commit. He alleged that the JAMB supervisor’s actions were inappropriate and may be connected to Chizitere’s withholding of his result.
Mutiu Olayemi, the JAMB supervisor in question, denied the allegations. He stated that he did not give his phone number to any candidate and was in Abuja to respond to JAMB’s inquiries. Olayemi attributed the report of the exam infraction to the Resident Monitor.
The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions is expected to investigate the petition and address the concerns raised by Obioha. The committee will likely review the evidence and hear from both parties involved.
