As the people of Rivers State dust off their permanent voter’s card ahead of the October 5 LG election in Rivers State, the Islamic body in the state has enjoined Muslims to do what is right in line with the injunctions of Allah.

The state Islamic Leader and Vice President General, Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Nasir Uhor who made this known to our correspondent said Muslims who are either voters or candidates in the forthcoming LG election should please Allah always by doing what the Quran says.

According to him: “My advice to the Muslim voters and contestants is that we should not forget Allah’s injunction. Whatever thing we do, we must do it for His sake and we must stand firm for the truth, even if it is against ourselves.

“It means that if you are engaging in or supporting a campaign, you do it in such a way that it does not violate the laws of Allah. In other words, you should do the right thing in accordance with how Allah wants it to be.

“You do not get involved in any criminal or anti-social activities just to gain election victory for your principal who is contesting. The best thing you can do for your principal is to pray for him and engage in practices that do not violate the code of the Quran.

“There is no point winning an election for yourself or for your principal and incurring the wrath of Allah for not doing the right thing. You just have to make sure you do not support evil.

“You will incur a loss from Allah if you support someone you know has questionable character and in the eyes of Allah is not contesting to serve the people well. You should go out there, and support good candidates in a manner it would not cause any problem in the society.”

Meanwhile, the Islamic body in the state has expressed delight over what the Edi-Abali of Kalabari Kingdom, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari is doing, especially in the area of building houses (mosques) for Allah, assuring that he will be adequately rewarded by Allah.

Alhaji Uhor said; “he (Alhaji Asari) is doing what Allah has enjoined us to do which is to propagate Islam and he will surely be rewarded by Allah. Allah has said that anybody who builds a house (mosque) for Him, even though it is as small as a nest, that He (Allah) will build a mansion for such a person in Jannah (paradise).

“Every other Muslim who has the means should do the same, if you don’t have one, then support others who are building mosques for Allah like our brother, Alhaji Asari so that you can also partake in the reward.”
