Nollywood Actor, IK Ogbonna Urges CAN To Act on Rising Fake Miracles

Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has spoken out against the growing trend of alleged “fake miracles” in some churches, calling for accountability within the Christian community.

Ogbonna addressed the issue through a post on Instagram on Wednesday, expressing his concerns about the misuse of God’s name for deceptive practices, which he views as a betrayal of the true essence of the Christian gospel.

In his post, Ogbonna stated the serious consequences of exploiting vulnerable people in the name of faith, cautioning believers to be mindful of these fraudulent activities.

He stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity of Christianity and warned against being swayed by social media trends that disrespect religious beliefs.

“It is heartbreaking to see pastors faking miracles to deceive and exploit the vulnerable people. These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain. The consequences? Broken trust, lost lives, and faith manipulated for profit,” Ogbonna wrote.

The actor also called upon religious institutions, particularly the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the federal government to step up and regulate these practices. He believes that those responsible for these fraudulent acts should be held accountable for their actions, as they tarnish the image of Christianity.

“To those pastors, it is time to reflect. Using God’s name for falsehood is a betrayal of the gospel. The victims should remember that their faith is sacred, and true miracles don’t come from deception,” he continued.

Ogbonna further emphasized the need for Christians to protect their faith from being exploited for viral content, urging followers not to allow their beliefs to become a mere tool for social media attention.

“I call on government and religious bodies like the CAN to step up, regulate, and hold bad actors accountable. Christianity is not fraud, manipulation, or mockery. Let’s stand to protect the integrity of our faith!” he stated, reinforcing his demand for stronger oversight and regulation.
