Police Smash Illegal Oil Refinery in Port Harcourt, Arrest Four Suspects

In a major breakthrough in the fight against oil theft and economic sabotage, operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering (IGP-STFPIB) have discovered a storage facility in Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, used for dealing and processing illegally acquired crude oil.

The operation, carried out in collaboration with the Department of Operations, Rivers State Command, on September 12, 2024, led to the arrest of four suspects: Emmanuel Nwachi (58), Adamu Bala (35), Nura Musa (22), and Bashir Abubakar (28).

According to a statement by Police Force Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, the team recovered 40,000 liters of petroleum products stored in 67 white storage tanks. The site was destroyed, and equipment and machines used in committing these crimes were recovered.

It bears mentioning that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their dedication and reemphasized the force’s commitment to tackling every form of crime, criminality, and corruption, including those involved in economic sabotage.

It is worth noting that the police have vowed to remain unyielding in bringing perpetrators to book, ensuring that those involved in these illicit activities face the full weight of the law.
