The French Founder and Managing Director of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, has announced that commuters will soon enjoy cheaper transportation thanks to buses that run on compressed natural gas. He also asked Nigerians to be patient with the Bola Tinubu administration, asking them to “give it time”.
“I have discussed with him (President Tinubu) and soon the masses will have many CNG buses on the road,” Mr Chukwuma told journalists after emerging from closed-door talks with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.
The auto-entrepreneur described the presidential CNG initiative as the “way forward” for the country. He explained:
“The CNG initiative of the government is the best idea for transport in this country because CNG offers many benefits to Nigeria. “It is this advantage that I recognized before starting the manufacture of CNG vehicles. I started manufacturing CNG kits before the announcement.
“Today, whoever tries CNG will find that this is the way for this nation. Thursday’s meeting follows President Tinubu’s national declaration five days ago in which he promised to distribute “one million kits at an extremely low cost or free to commercial vehicles that transport people and goods and currently consume 80% of imported cars before fuel and engine oil.
“Tinubu argued that despite Nigeria’s abundant oil and gas resources, the country has relied solely on petroleum-based gasoline, neglecting its gas resources to fuel the economy. -earned currency to pay and subsidize its use “To face this problem, we launched our initiative. to compressed natural gas to fuel our transportation economy at lower costs. “This will save over two trillion naira per month, which is currently being used to import PMS and AGO, and free up our resources for greater investment in health and education,” Tinubu said.
